My Students

I have a classroom full of 21 kindergarteners that will absolutely steal your heart within just minutes of stepping into my classroom! They are the sweetest children! Every morning they come skipping down the hallway and smile up at me as they walk through the door. All day long, their little hands shoot up in the air, eager to ask me questions and tell me stories about their cats, eating macaroni and cheese for lunch and their new sneakers. Their excitement and joy is infectious, it's impossible not to be happy when you're around them! They love learning, and even play teacher during play time, reading to other children, just like I read to the class. They get so excited when they find sight words in the books they read, calling me over to show me, gleaming with pride! I truly have the best job, as I get to spend my day with the most kind and happy people that have a love of learning like no other - children!

My Project

My kindergarten students love reading big books, but right now, my classroom isn't really set up for it. Whenever I try to read a big book with the class, I try to find a place to prop the book up for all the children to see, but it always ends up falling, interrupting the story and causing distraction. Big books can be very clumsy to use, especially with little ones who are still working on their motor skills. This big book center would solve our problem, making it easy to read big books with the class everyday, as well as it comes with built-in storage for the big books! I also love that the front is a magnetic and dry-erase white board in which the children will be able to practice building and writing words from the story! I just know the class would be so excited!
