This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend the largest high school in the amazing city of Fresno. They bring rich and diverse histories to my classroom. Some arrived here in the country just recently, and others have been raised here their entire lives. Quite a few of my students speak a second language such as Spanish, Hmong, and quite a few others.

The creativity that my students show every day has inspired me to become more creative for them in my teaching practices.

Their passion to put themselves and their personality into their own work has helped me do the same every day.

Some of my students will go on to college at the four-year level. Some will go into the community college arena to stay local and save money. Others will go into a technical trade school. My goal is to make sure that my students are prepared to be proud of what they've learned and ready for whatever comes next for them.

My Project

The new document camera is they key for making better quality videos in my classes. The Canon digital camera will also be used to help with creating higher quality interactive videos.

Students will use the cameras to create demo lessons for future students to watch in my classes for years to come.

I already have a large bank of student-created videos but the quality isn't as good as I would like. Using better supplies will give the students opportunities to explore digital creativity.

The main project in my class is to pick two different problems that they felt challenged them the most this year. They will write a script on how to solve the problems and then get my approval. After I've looked over their problems, they will then be allowed to use these tools to create a video and then edit that same video. Some of my most challenging students love this project because they will get the chance to choose their own difficulty and create something that they had to work hard to finish.

The cameras will also be used for my student interviews. Every year I interview a group of students on their experiences in my class. They give great advice to future students on the keys to success and also get a chance to express how they feel I could make my teaching better.
