My Students
I am very fortunate to teach the students of this community. They are motivated, inquisitive and really enjoy collaborating when given a project. Over the past year, parents have generously donated towards my vision of introducing STEM based chemistry and biology labs involving amazing technology that is used to gather data.
The students appreciate the opportunity to use the STEM lab equipment because it allows them to use technology while collaborating and using critical thinking to produce results which help prepare them for the future.
My Project
Soon my chemistry students will be learning about kinetics and equilibrium are two of the most complicated topics this year. The best way for the students to better understand the upcoming concepts is for them to experience amazing hands-on labs. During both of these activities, everyone will be following detailed step by step instructions in which students will be carefully measuring and combining reactants to observe the various rates of reactions.
Having assigned both of these labs in the past, I honestly believe that the students will not only have a better understanding of kinetics and equilibrium but also enjoy the experience.
Each lab involves collaboration and critical thinking needed to determine how concentration and temperature affect reaction rate. Therefore, the students will be required to read the lab instructions ahead of time, apply what has been taught, and work together with their lab partners. This is the best lab experience because it requires everything needed for success!
