My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging trips that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! I teach at a high poverty elementary school serving approximately 400 students coming from a variety of backgrounds. Despite this they come to school each day eager and ready to learn.
They are always ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
They are truly my inspiration!
My Project
In fourth grade we teach all about Virginia's history. Two months are spent learning about Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. There is no better way to relate the material than by taking our students back in time to the Colonial Jamestown and Williamsburg era. We take students on a full day of adventure by starting out with an interactive, hands-on experience at Jamestown Settlement, followed by a teacher created scavenger hunt in Colonial Williamsburg.
For many of our students this is a once in a lifetime trip.
Due to the distance of our school from the destination, we are required to take charter buses. Unfortunately, this drives the price of the trip up. Without assistance to pay for the buses, this is an astronomical price to ask a family to pay.
