Middle school students have so much pressure on them to "pass the test." But, when you come from a home that is chaotic, living in high poverty where there is no emphasis on learning, passing the test is out of the question.
My students come from a culturally diverse district that is high poverty (100% economically disadvantaged, free lunch).
Many of these students feel discouraged.
My students are inquisitive, creative, culturally diverse, and innovative. From the day I meet my students, we focus on their amazing potential and helping them discover this amazing potential while instilling hope. I strive to help my students hope, hope for themselves and hope for their future. We also emphasize the power and importance of reading and learning.
My Project
The Surface Pro tablet will bring the most modern, innovative technology to my students. My students have varying disabilities. Having this new piece of technology to will help us help them. Most of my students do not have access to technology at home. My first priority with the Surface Pro would be to provide my students with high-quality apps that would engage their minds and motivate them to learn. They can have access to Digital Coach, MobyMax, Kahoot and other extremely educational apps!
Learning is not "cool" to middle school students any more.
Keeping them engaged takes keeping their interests! With the changing times, technology is the future. Keeping up with the latest technology will ensure that my students are keeping pace with students from other districts.
So, this Surface Pro can help my current and future students for countless years. Allowing me to use this to reach all of my students at their level will benefit their learning outcome!
