I am a Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at a charter school. Majority of our students live in poverty and have challenging home lives. But, despite all of the obstacles they have to overcome, they try their hardest every day. My students are discouraged, disenchanted and have low self-esteem. I have one year with them to help them see what I see in them and to help them believe in themselves. I want to provide my high poverty students with an enriching environment that supports their learning as an individual.
