Mrs. Brown from Orlando FL is requesting Flexible Seating through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Being Flexible to Foster a Love for Reading

My students need flexible seating so that they can maximize their capability to learn how to read! I have very active students that need to be able to have the ability to choose where to sit!

My Students

The thing I love most about my students is their eagerness to learn and their caring hearts! My students are creative, thoughtful and definitely full of questions! My school currently has around 50% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. The community and culture is positive around my students but sometimes lacks home support.

My students absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging reading tasks that allow them to move around the classroom and engage with their peers!

They come to school each day with a smile on their face and a readiness to learn in their hearts! Truly, they are my inspiration! I am looking forward to seeing my students faces light up when they walk into my welcoming and flexible classroom this year!

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning. Students will be able to be more comfortable in their learning environment and that will increase their ability to retain the information they are learning! These materials will make a difference in my students lives by helping aide them in being able to pay attention longer.

With flexible seating my students will be able to concentrate longer on the work at hand and ultimately improve their reading skills.

I am excited to see the students faces light up when they see that I have an engaging and welcoming classroom waiting for them at the start of the year. The flexible seating that will be provided will make for an amazing classroom library that will enhance my students love of reading!

I chose these specific flexible seating options to benefit the students in my classroom. The surf portable laptop desks will be the perfect seat for those students who like to use the laptop in a quiet corner. The seats will be utilized for students also using an iPad with the iReady reading curriculum in my class. The stools are the best option for my teacher table. Students will sit there for about 15 minutes while we dive into some tough reading passages. It will help student posture, flexibility and overall focus. Now if a student chooses to sit in a regular chair at a desk in my room, I wanted to give them the option to sit on a fun cushion! It is still giving the flexibility but with structure for those kiddos who opt for a more traditional style seat. The bean bag chairs will be the best addition to my library reading corner! It will be comfy for students to lounge on as they dive into a book!
