Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our middle school population is one of the most diverse in our district - with large populations of Latino, Filipino and African-American and immigrant students. Here, their experiences are celebrated. Here, they and their families are welcomed and wanted. Our mission is to provide at-promise students the opportunity to gain the skills they need to be changemakers in their communities in a supportive educational environment where progress is expected and different learning styles are valued. Through personalized instruction rooted in student backgrounds, we meet the students where they are at and help to facilitate their process of academic and socio-emotional growth in partnership with families and local organizations.

My Project

Gaining new equipment and resources is always a challenge for public schools. My goal is to help provide new and necessary equipment for my PE department so that all students at the school will benefit from having what they need to experience positive and productive physical activities.

The exercise mats I'm requesting will allow students to do ground exercises in a PE area dominated by asphalt.

The volley ball nets I requested will allow the whole class to once again all play volley ball at the same time by having additional nets set up for game play. The blue tooth speaker will allow teachers to play instructional audio to their classes and music outdoors that will reinforce physical activities and exercises for the students.

I am grateful that I have the opportunity to request this equipment and I am hopeful that a donor will fund my project to provide these items to all students at my school site. Thank you.
