My students are a very diverse group of children with one thing in common. They all attend an urban, public Montessori school. Sixty percent of the students qualify for free lunch and eighty percent of the students are racial minorities.
We follow the teachings of Maria Montessori to meet the needs of the whole child, physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually, by allowing the child to guide his or her learning.
I am fortunate to be in a school that sees music as an integral part of the child's development and encourages musical growth and expression.
My Project
Middle school band just keeps growing- we grew from 24 to 30 students this semester! It's been so fun seeing students get excited to play instruments, especially after a lost year and a half from the pandemic.
I am requesting materials my students need for their instruments- polishing clothes, ligatures, and mouthpiece brushes!
As we play together in class we are learning what we need and t-shirts just aren't cutting it when it comes to keeping instruments shiny. We also are in need of ligatures that won't get bent and the brushes to keep our mouthpieces hygienic.
Thank you for taking the time to check out this project!
