My Project

Our school is located in the rural south. Most of our students are African-American, and many would be considered at-risk for one reason or another. My students work hard to do their best every day and to learn and grow. Many of our students live in dire poverty. As a result, learning is not always the biggest issue in their lives.

For many of my students, it is hard for their families to provide the basic materials they need for class.

We also receive high numbers of special needs students. Because of this, we have to ensure that they do not lose any more ground while they are with us.

Since most of my children come from impoverished backgrounds, it is understandable that this can happen. In some cases, their parents have to choose between buying school supplies and putting food on the table. Because of this, we need help to make sure these students have the items they need daily.

We are in great need of replacement Chromebooks. Our students use these for all assignments. In the case of our special needs students, they even use them to organize their day with us and do extra assignments as provided by their Special Education teacher. In some cases, these are even taken home for extra practice.

I know this project is very expensive. At the same time, it will truly change the lives of these students. Since all of our students have been removed from a general school setting, it is critical that we get them back on track. Please provide these basics for our special needs population.
