My students are full of energy, entering the classroom ready to share what they know and ask questions to discover new things. I teach in a Title I School in Brooklyn New York in which 90% of the students receive free lunch. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom such as having limited English Language, or living in a shelter. When they are provided with the opportunity to try new things they are fearless and excited.
They are amazing little people who bloom each day as they master new skills.
They enjoy being read to, molding with playdough, or simply talking with someone. For some of them this is their first school experience and I want to provided them with all types of experiences that inspire them to be life long learners.
District research has shown that our students are lacking in conceptual thinking. Botley Coding Robots would allow me to bridge this Gap. Many of the careers of the future have not been created yet but current directions guide them to one that involves exploring, questioning and persisting to seek new knowledge. Is it too early? I say no, as long as it is done in a playful and independent way.
Most learned skills involves trying and trying again until you master it.
We watch a toddlers fall and get back up over and over again until they succeed. Children also come into this world asking why. It is never too early to encouraging students to problem solve. Botley Coding Robots would allow me to build students natural curiosity. My student would take part in problem solving activities to develop this crucial skill needed in today's world and beyond. They will code botley to follow direction, or create a maze for it. They would be able to work in small groups to tackle the problems and develop social skills. They would listen, discuss and then create a plan. Reaching the goal and feel the satisfaction would build confidence. Ultimately creating a well rounded learner ready for the future. Can you help me obtain materials that will allow them shine?
