Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 3rd grade ESL students are so creative and full of life! They love reading all types of stories and have plenty of their own to tell. Our students come from many different cultures and our goal is to nurture their uniqueness while creating a community of learners in our classroom and school.
Our students represent many different cultures, but they are one big family when they are at school.
They are very insightful, creative children who have a generosity of spirit and love to give. Many of our students are from economically disadvantaged homes, but that doesn't stop them from striving for achievement and giving it their all in school. We nurture our students' individual strengths and build them up in any way we can. Writing is one area that all children can feel successful at with careful guidance. That's why we have chosen this write your own book project for our incredible 3rd graders to express themselves and show off theirs individuality. With these hardcover books, they will be able to cherish their finished product for years to come. Empowering students through art and creativity will have a long lasting and profound effect.
My Project
We have been working on writing all year in a step by step manner. We begin with a discussion of ideas, organize our ideas in graphic organizers, use process writing to get the details just right and finally edit and revise our work. Publishing our finished products is the last step and children eagerly and proudly share their completed writing with the class. This write your own hardcover book will be the absolute perfect project to end the year on a high note! Children will be the authors and illustrators of their very own book and they are sure to be very enthusiastic and proud to complete this project. My students need hardcover books, colored pencils, crayons and pencils
Empowering students through art will have a lasting impact on the way they see themselves as students and members of our community.
This project will prove to 60 children that they can be excellent writers and illustrators. Kids have to believe in themselves to improve and workbook or ditto can accomplish a sense of empowerment better than creating something unique to yourself. Our students will know that their stories matter and they will always have their lovely hardcover book as a reminder!
