Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Due to our school being Title 1, we have a large population of English as a Second Language Learners and minorities. Many of my students have come from difficult backgrounds and trauma. I have been working with this school for 15 years now and love what I do. It's amazing to know the impact these kids have had on me and how I can just be a little part of their lives.
We are a Leader in Me school and they live the 7 Habits daily to become better leaders in the future.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky to be their teacher!
My Project
I introduced Harry Potter to my class this past year and have never seen kids so excited! They were immediately drawn in when we did a Growth Mindset lesson with the Harry Potter theme. They were so excited and wanted me to read aloud the books to them. I saw the impact the growth mindset lesson had on them and have seen so many Harry Potter themed classrooms, I just knew I wanted to have this be my classroom theme this year.
Imagine the students reading the inspirational Harry Potter quotes every day for motivation!
These quotes truly inspire the growth mindset I intend to instill in my students this year. I would love them to be as excited about this theme as I am about Harry Potter! I would love to have the opportunity to give them something MAGICAL to come to daily!
This is a great chance to give the students the flexible seating options with the laptop desks and bean bag chairs. The classroom should be somewhere the kids WANT to be and where they can feel comfortable. Working in a Title 1 school with students who are coming in experiencing trauma or coming in with very little experiences, I would love to have the classroom feel inviting, interesting, and motivational! Please help me set up a classroom that will be like MAGIC every day and help my students become Learning Wizards!
