Help me give my students Magna-Tiles for their morning tubs to help them build, grow, and learn how to share. The magnet boards, whisper phones, and comprehension kits will help them become better readers!
Second grade is where my heart is. My students become my family. We learn together, grow together, and help each other. I think it is important not only to teach academics, but also character traits like honesty, trustworthiness, and accountability. Through building a community, we learn from each other about how to be a good person. We see these traits in the characters we read about, some fiction and some real. I love to see the light in their eyes when making connections or the confidence they have after mastering skills I have taught. I build relationships with each of "my kids" because they have wonderful personalities and gifts that need to be shared. In my classroom we learn how to become better readers, focusing on comprehension and fluency throughout many topics. I love to integrate science and technology within our reading time. My goal for my students is to try their best and become a well-rounded person and a better readers after their time in my classroom.
In my classroom, instead of coming to school and having a worksheet waiting for them, they get to play! The magna-Tiles would be a great addition to our morning tubs where students get to communicate and build together. I will use the comprehension kits, whisper phones, and magnetic white boards at my guided reading table to work on phonics, fluency, and comprehension skills. The whisper phones build fluency and let students hear themselves read. The magnetic boards will be used for phonics and word building. Having these items will help me reach and teach more students. These items will increase their reading skills.
