Mrs. Corbett from Fayetteville NC is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need National Board Certification, this will make me a better teacher by pushing myself to become an accomplished teacher by fulfilling this process.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach in a Title I School in North Carolina and many of my students are at-risk for academic failure. This is many of my students' first time in a school setting. The early learners in my class are more interested in the process of discovering and manipulating materials, much more than the final products of their experiments. Learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for every child and reflect his or her developmental, cultural, and individual circumstances. My students love to move and be active. However, because of recent budget cuts, we are unable to purchase additional resources such as the ones requested.
I am requesting the tuition for Component 3 of the National Board Certification process for Early Childhood Generalist. I will be working continuously over the next year, improving in on my educational practices, guiding student case studies, learning new national standards, and detailing the journey through educational videos and projects to better myself as a teaching professional.
Your donations to help me achieve National Board certification will impact my student’s lives!
This project will serve as a scholarship for me to go through arguably the most rigorous teaching evaluation process offered by a third party service called National Board. In this process, I will fulfill 4 propositions: (1) be committed to students and their learning, (2) know the subjects I teach and monitor student learning, (3) think systematically about my practice and learn from experience, and (4) be a member of a learning community. I must submit strong and rigorous artifacts and pass online assessments evaluated by the National Board in order to be certified. Artifacts consist of recorded classroom teaching video, student work, and more. The whole process may take 1 to 3 years. Fulfillment of this project will help me grow professionally via this certification process. I want to become a more knowledgeable teacher, have greater skills to meet students' needs, and be more keenly aware of how my teaching practices affect all students.
