I am greeted by 30 smiling, eager-to-learn faces every day! My students love to collaborate, learn about the world around them, and create new ways to solve problems.
Around 75% of the students in our small-town school receive free or reduced price lunch.
Although the students in my classroom are faced with many obstacles, they continue to strive to be the best learners they can be. As their teacher, I want to help encourage them to maintain their love of learning and overcome the obstacles they face.
My Project
After participating in a long test, the students in my classroom were eager to come up with new ways that they could be active within the classroom. One of the ideas they came up with was to have seats that allowed them to move all day long! What a great idea! We began researching ideas and found that the Stay-N-Play Balance Seats and the Wobble Chairs would allow the students in my class to be actively moving, while learning. These items would allow my students to increase core strength, drastically lessen the time they are sitting still, and aid in being able to become more active in their participation in the class.
My fourth graders are full of energy and want to use that to their advantage while learning.
One of the activities they are very interested in is taking learning outside of the classroom to create videos of what we are learning in action. We need Kindle Fire cases to make our technology more mobile and to provide the peer interaction and movement that my students need.
When combined, these resources will allow my students to be physically active for the majority part of their day. In my experience an active and engaged body leads to an active and engaged brain!
