My Students

Our elementary school is rooted in providing an excellent education, love, and a family atmosphere for our students! We are successful academically and rank high in attendance in our area. We share a group of students who are eager to learn and are blasting past goals on a regular basis.

Our challenge is that we are located in a very low socio-economic area that currently has a free/reduced lunch rate of 90% and funding is not always available to present our students with opportunities and supplies needed to provide them with the strongest support possible.

My students are critical thinkers who love to learn, accept every challenge willingly and excitedly, and are innovators who share new adventurous ways of learning with their classmates and teachers. They are group of thriving 3rd and 4th graders that maintain an invigorating sense of enthusiasm for the power of learning! These children are our future!

My Project

Literacy is an important aspect in every area of education and it begins in elementary school. Classroom libraries are a great tool to promote literacy and introduce students to a love of reading at an early age.

Our class is working toward classroom sets of our favorite books!

We are asking for a class set of Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.

This is the top book chosen by the 3rd- 5th graders in my classroom, the students feel it would be a wonderful opportunity for them to share this with their classmates in literacy groups. Please help us add to our classroom library.
