Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are my inspiration. They are generous, they are deep thinkers, they are funny, and they are intellectually curious. They ask fascinating questions, and they love to learn. They think critically, and they love their communities deeply and self-sacrificially. They come from all sorts of backgrounds, family contexts, and home countries. And they come together to form a beautiful and inspiring community of reflective, compassionate, innovative, and driven young people. When I remember that they are the future of this country, I know we are all going to be ok.

They deserve a classroom setting that feels professional and inspirational.

I have been lucky enough to receive some beautiful and profound artwork through several school donation programs. And recently I was lucky enough to get my classroom walls painted. Now that I am ready to cover the walls again, I want to do so intentionally, building a space that communicates to my students how much I respect and value them. I am so grateful to have a fresh start and the opportunity to create a more professional classroom setting, as a small step to sending them this important message.
