This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students attend a Title 1 school. Their families often struggle with providing necessary winter gear for their children. With temperatures often plunging well below zero, children are at a higher risk for hypothermia and frostbite because their smaller bodies lose heat faster than adults.

In Alaska, winter gear isn't just about comfort—it’s a safety essential.

Waterproof outer shells protect against biting winds and heavy snow during long outdoor recesses. Proper gear ensures that Alaska’s "big dark" stays a playground rather than a hazard, keeping kids safe, warm, and active all season.
