Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love about our students is the relationships we are cultivating as a campus of learners striving toward uniting as one cohesive unit after merging two schools. We are a traditional high school with students with special needs, language limitations, academic struggles, and behavioral challenges. Our students come from challenging home lives, where most don't have stable parental guidance, consistent income, food and shelter security, etc.

Positive behavior initiatives and rewards help motivate our students who struggle with any learning deficits they may encounter.

Each student is aware of our campus-wide positive behavior initiatives, and when they progress, they earn rewards and treats. Because of this, many students have modified and improved their behaviors. Many work hard to earn a bag of chips or snack items. I want to make sure their experience on our campus is positive, and having this reward system does just that!
