My Project

I teach in a dance classroom that is on a huge open floor. The space is great for teaching movement, but it is not comfortable or inviting for small group work or reading.

Receiving a set of bean bag chairs would allow for a comfortable space for students when we have reading or discussion work.

At our school, the dance room is often used for dancing but we also have small group time where we focus on reading and literacy. When I watch my students settle for this time, they often are forced to move away from each other to lean against the outside walls to provide support for their backs. Some also try to find ways of getting comfortable by lying around the floor in various ways. If our classroom could have a set of bean bag chairs for our growing classroom numbers, we could create an intimate, inviting setting to begin our time together as well as a comfortable arrangement as we read and discuss each week.
