My students need 6 bean bags and one rug for the literacy center.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
I work at a Kindergarten through third grade Title I school in the Phoenix area and I teach second grade. The students are enthusiastic, hard-working, and kind. Although the school has many interventions in place to help struggling readers and they are quite successful at bringing students up to grade even with many challenges, our goal is to create a student body who goes on to life-long learning. We want to create world class thinkers and problem solvers who want to make our society a better place.
I chose six bean bags and a wonderfully colorful rug for my reading area because the early years of education are when we can really make an impact on a child's love of reading that will last a lifetime.
Getting students excited about reading is the most important part of teaching, and it takes some salesmanship, enthusiasm, and a "special" place to read.
My students will be thrilled to enjoy the Bean Bag Books Reading Area and it will inspire them to create such an area at home for themselves as well.
I work with students who often enter school behind their peers in more affluent communities, so anything that fosters reading enjoyment can make all the difference in their future success.
