Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are in grades 3-8. They are a combination of students who spend the whole day with me or spend most of the day with me but go out to the grade level classroom for an hour a day. My group has various educational disabilities but are working hard to overcome them. My students are amazing and love learning. They enjoy hands-on learning and anything creative. We work hard and enjoy fun, peaceful breaks. We are a small but tight knit group continuing to learn and prosper during the pandemic.

My Project

My students view school as their safe place. I try to keep it that way, but sometimes what happens outside the classroom impacts them inside. This is where the bean bag comes in.

We have a calm down space that needs a comfortable, cushy beanbag to make it perfect.

This space will be for reading, using sensory items, or soothing music to help the students calm down and remember they are safe and loved. The beanbags, in bright colors, will make the kids smile and feel like kids no matter what.
