"Look what I made!" This is the type of thing you hear in a classroom when students are using iPads. If simply using an iPad produces this type of enthusiasm for learning, imagine what would happen if it were possible to project what the students are doing on a large screen for everyone to see.
My classroom consists of twenty boys and girls with varying ability levels.
Our elementary school is located in a small town in South Carolina. Although the students come from a variety of backgrounds, one thing remains the same- their interest in technology. Our school is embracing 21st Century learning and has provided the students access to iPads to use on a regular basis. This has enhanced their education a great deal, but wouldn't it be better for the students to display their work on the Promethean Board instead of simply showing other students on the small screen of an iPad? How much more effective would instruction be if the great educational apps students use on their iPads could be projected and used during lessons?
My Project
This can be made possible with an Apple TV. An Apple TV will allow students to immediately share what they have been creating on the iPad with the entire class. This will help teach important public speaking and presentation skills that students will use for their entire lives. For example, projects made with the Pic Collage app can be displayed on the Promethean Board to help reinforce ideas taught in class. Or, students can record their own lesson on any topic using the Show Me app, which allows them to record their voice while writing on the screen. When played on the Promethean Board through an Apple TV, the students become the teacher. An AppleTV will also enable myself as a teacher to become more effective in my instruction. Any app that is on my iPad, such as the geoboard app or the NASA app, will be able to transfer to the Promethean Board and will aid my instruction. It will allow me to demonstrate any app while the students follow along on their own iPads.

Since technology is becoming more and more prevalent in our world today, it only makes sense to integrate technology into the classroom. Teaching students to use technology to communicate their learning with others will help students to become active and effective members of our society in the future.
