Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a previous Life Skills teacher and current School Counselor, I understand the importance of social emotional learning. SEL plays an integral part of the students’ learning process. Now more than ever I’ve noticed an increase in behaviors such as emotional dysregulation, impulse control and coping skills from pre-K to 5th grade. As a counselor 1:767 I often find it difficult to meet all the students’ needs. Therefore, my plan is to incorporate a YOGA club which will allow me to interact with more students in a fun and positive way. This proactive approach will not only benefit students but the entire school culture. The goal is to teach students skills that will help them not only in the classroom, but throughout life. My personal goal is to complete the Mindfulness, SEL, and Yoga certification provided by Breathe for Change. As for the future, I would also like to create a club for the staff (don’t tell them). Thank you so much for your donation and for being part of the YOGA project.
