I am the behavioral specialist/counselor, and I typically work with students with special needs. Sometimes I also support the general population as well. Many of the students that I serve have mental health issues, emotional disabilities or impaired cognitive abilities making it difficult to function in some day-to-day activities or meet expectations. A large majority of the students I work with have challenging behaviors as a result.
Our school is a rural one and consists mostly of students who receive free lunches.
Many of the families have been here for generations. Across my experiences, I can attest to every student possessing unique and admirable qualities regardless of grade, ethnic background, socioeconomic factors or any other attributes.
My students will greatly benefit from my comprehensive counseling program where they will learn social-emotional and academic skills, participate in large/small group and receive individual counseling.
Bullies have been a part of the school experience for as long as we've had schools, yet today the focus on preventing bullying behavior is much more focused. We need a literature collection to help send a message that bullying is not OK!
If you have ever been the victim of a bully, you know exactly why these books will be so very important to our school.
We are requesting a collection of books that deal with the topic of bullying and bullying prevention. Each of the requested books contains an important theme about the importance of creating safe schools where mean behavior is not acceptable. The books will be used in classrooms and serve to spark conversations about the kind of bully-free school we want for our students.
