Be Helpful By Providing Headphones for Low Income Students
Help me give my students much needed headphones! The cart contains 20 headphones so that each student will be assigned a pair of headphones to go with their donated Chromebooks.
Every year that I am in education, I learn more things about my students and their lives. I have a variety of learners and most live in poverty. 100% of our students received free breakfast and lunch.
The students that I work with come to school to be loved.
Many of their main goals are not to come to school to learn. They want to come to school to be in a safe environment where a routine is in place. My students know that when they come to school in my classroom, they will be safe and loved. It is very heart warming to see the excitement on their faces when I provide opportunities for them to love school even more. However, as you can imagine, it gets pretty expensive to continue to provide new items each year for our classroom. I'm looking for others to help fund making my classroom as inviting as possible.

My Project
I have worked very hard to receive funding for my classroom to receive Chromebooks. However, we do not have headphones for our students. Since my students each have their own assigned Chromebook to use at school, they need headphones to go with it. Many of my students are English Language Learners or lower readers. These students could benefit from listening to reading on their Chromebook. Also, I ask students to listen to many videos to help them learn throughout the year. Lastly, our Missouri State testing requires students to listen to reading. Therefore, we have to share headphones in the building for our monthly benchmark testing as well as our end of year testing. Adding these headphones to our learning tools will help us learn, grow and prepare for these benchmarks.
Many of our school’s loaner headphones are damaged or broken.
Unfortunately, most of the students in my classroom do not have the privilege of having a computer at home nor headphones. It would be great to allow them the opportunity to listen to reading as much as possible at school.
