My students need to see that they matter, these motivational and inspirational signs for the entire school will help show how great we truly think they are.
Each morning our students are greeted by teachers and staff with a handshake, or a hug. This small gesture helps to set the tone for the day. As they get off of the bus, they see our smiling faces and we get a sense of the weight of home that many of them bring with them. The handshake or hug is the first step in letting them know we care. Once in the building, they head to their classroom- where they get another handshake or hug from their teacher. Another small connection that helps set the tone for our entire school and our entire school day.
The students often find solace in the normalcy that school can provide, and they are motivated to get to school however they can.
Our students are from every walk of life, however as a whole, our school is a Title I school, so all students receive free breakfast and many receive free or reduced lunch. They love to learn and benefit from as hands-on, engaging, learning experiences that our great staff provides.
My Project
These materials will be used to create an inviting school environment for our student body.
As a teacher, we not only educate the students, but we help to raise their self-esteem and self- awareness.
While we as teachers always focus on students strengths- they often forget what they are capable of. We hope by having these messages throughout the entire school they will be reminded of the great things that they can do.
There are many pre-made motivational and inspirational quotes in this projects. For instance, I envision the the vinyl cling reading "The Time To Be Awesome Is Now" being the first thing that students and parents see as they enter the school building. As they enter the lobby area, I'll place the famous Ghandi quote "Be the change you wish to see in the world" front and center. The remaining vinyl quotes will be placed throughout the hallways and lobby area to encourage the students to succeed daily. The wall canvas art will be placed in the lobby area to brighten the space and set the tone. The vinyl rolls and supplies will be used with a Cricut to create smaller quotes for use on mirrors and doors throughout the school.
I truly feel that this project will make a difference in the lives of our students for years to come. While many projects impact one classroom, this project will impact our entire school and we hope it will make a lasting difference and help to teach each student that they truly matter to us, their teachers.
