This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are the most thoughtful, sweet, and grateful bunch! They are being raised in underprivileged homes and yet come to school every day with smiles on their faces and ready to learn. The school is their “Happy Place” because they know that they will be fed, since they are all eligible for free lunch, nurtured by a wonderful staff, and taught by their peers and educators. They feel safe, respected, and loved!

Even a pandemic can't keep them from learning!

They really look forward to coming to school every day because they understand that we strive to maintain a positive, safe and healthy environment. Our community is composed of different ethnicities, races, religions, social backgrounds, ideas, and experiences. This allows our students to learn and grow by interacting with each other. They all bring something special to our learning community. No students are invisible. They just love learning together and most importantly being there for one another as friends.

My Project

It's not easy wiping all the shared surfaces in a classroom on a daily basis! I do this two times a day, when I first arrive and before I leave. I would do anything I can to protect my students from this horrible pandemic that has interrupted their little lives at home and at school.

Teaching and Learning must go on!

All students deserve to learn in a clean environment. Especially because they all count on us to be there for them. Some of these children are accustomed to be let down by "the system" and I represent the system. Therefore, it is my duty to make their learning experiences meaningful and the place where it all occurs safe!
