Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The paints I am requesting will support the whole BDF community. Much of how I teach my middle school level Visual Arts majors is through real world experiences. With the concrete paint, my majors will learn how to beautify our outdoor learning environment and learn how beautifying an outdoor space of a building can reflect the people or the work done inside. We are BDF Creative and Performing Arts Academy, Flying Falcons under a banner of blue and white. Receiving these items means that when our community approaches the building, they will see that upfront.

As a teaching artist, my goal is to work with my visual arts majors to beautify our school so the learning environment is more pleasant.

Many teachers, myself included, often use the courtyard as a learning space. From the day I was hired I've wanted to beautify that area but haven't had the means.

My students are special because, as early as 11 years old, they are making the choice to work towards who they wish to become. Your support of this amazing academy of young artists will be greatly appreciated as it will give my students another project that the whole school can benefit from and be proud of.
