This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What is the point of education? Yes, to build knowledge of course but equally important is not only to build the mind but the body as well.

Many of our students stay after school to learn new things such as guitar, violin, and to learn new sports to play.

Many times, students need organized ways to learn how to play cooperatively. Our Physical Education coaches, recess coaches, and classroom teachers work with our students outside of the school day to teach them organized games. Through these games they learn, the students compete in classroom teams in each of the following events; standing long jump, baskets in a minute, relay races, and softball throw. Throughout the year, they are taught these games and compete with the other students within their school and grade level in these events. The students will be divided into classroom teams. From there they will be in smaller teams within their classroom teams. Each team will compete in the classroom teams and then a winner will emerge. Then they will compete against the other classroom first place team.

My Project

Our students will be out in the fresh air, exercising, while learning things like passing the baton while running. Also, how to throw a softball correctly, dribble a basketball, and jump!

Imagine children running like the wind!

Four runners all in different lanes holding brightly colored batons. The whistle blows and they each try to outrun the other to the next stop. There, they pass the baton and can take a breath! All the while, having so much fun racing against their peers. That's just one example of the ways students can use the proposed sports equipment we've asked for. The kids will be able to be exposed to all different types of outdoor activities and at the same time, be learning how to work collaboratively with their classroom teams.

Our students are always looking for new things to learn. This new sports equipment will give them the tools they need to become more athletic, love of the game, and genuine fun!
