My students need a G bass bar to add some bass tones to our existing Orff instruments.

My Students

My students are in a 1A district. We enjoy all the benefits of a small country town, but also know the disadvantages. The students are not exposed to a variety of instruments, concerts, or theater programs. We have some soprano and alto xylophones and a bass bar would add a foundation to our music.

As I mentioned previously our school is in a small town.

The students are from a farming community and many of their families have been there for generations. The students are at a distinct disadvantage from being exposed to hearing and playing instruments. Our district has a drum line, but not a band of any kind. My desire is to help them enjoy Orff instruments at an elementary level and then continue in the drum line. Who knows, this group of elementary students may be the first high school band! The students are extremely obedient and responsible, caring for themselves and their siblings. The administration is extremely supportive of music and has helped us in every way. But with the tough economic times and stretching the money between kindergarten through high school, things get thin.

My Project

A G bass bar will play the low G sound. The bass is the foundation and will be used in class and performance. The students love to play the existing instruments and will be ecstatic to have a new one. The bass bar is especially great for some students. Since they can only hit one note, they don't make a mistake. Students who are afraid or special needs students thrive on a bass bar.

Having a bass bar will inspire the students to work hard on their instruments and prepare for performances.

The students need to become accustomed to hearing the bass notes and learning to identify them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
