This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a first-time coach at an all-English language learner school, it's been a fun challenge. My middle school girls' basketball team is amazing! They work hard in school and also on the court.

They respect one another and work as a team to win.

They love to practice every day! Like all the students in my school, they get along very well. This group of middle school girls does not let drama stand in their way of practicing/winning!

My Project

I am proud to say that I am in charge of a fantastic group of girls who are very talented with a basketball. These girls walk from across the border every day to receive their education, as this 100% English language learner school is exactly one block from the Mexican border wall.

These low-income students cannot afford proper basketball gear at home, so these shoes will not only bring tears to their eyes, but also add extra height to their jumps.

These girls practice every day for an hour and a half after school, and the results have proved it at our games, as they are undefeated, so far! They are winners in my eyes always, because they work hard in school and play hard at practice and games! Go Lady Cardinals!
