This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in an urban school where many kids don' t have the opportunity of playing organized sports. These students enjoy playing together at recess but lack the skills and resources to play together.

Adding a basketball hoop to the schoolyard would provide my students the opportunity to play together, practice together, and learn cooperative play.

My students love outdoor recess but due to a small play area running around is tough. There is a perfect area for students to play basketball.

My Project

The students at my school have the rare opportunity of playing organized sports. They often don't to have the yards to even play outside, so they enjoy recess all that much more.

Many do enjoy playing on our school basketball team, but don't have the skills to perform at a high level.

A basketball hoop during recess would give them more practice time.

The students at my school have limited space and resources for recess. Many of the students, both girls and boys, love playing basketball. A basketball hoop would give them another choice for a recess activity. We have plenty of basketballs but how boring is it to just dribble and not shoot!
