Basic Supplies Matter

My Students

Our school is comprised of a diverse group of students from various backgrounds and ethnicities. We maintain a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) environment and work hard to encourage students and offer them opportunities to do the right thing and be a kind person.

Students sometimes don't have the appropriate supplies, but we never want that to stop them from being successful.

Our guidance office and team teachers work together to insure that we're always prepared with school supplies to share with them if they're needed or necessary for a project or assignment. We also want to have supplies that students would choose for themselves and be happy to use.

Obtaining items that students like and giving them ways to earn them through our PBIS program as well as borrowing them to complete their work can be difficult. We must fulfill the needs of all types of students. These include those in our cognitively impaired classrooms to our students who are mature and won't be happy with a basic pencil, pen, marker or other supply.

My Project

Students in our building often don't have the basic supplies needed or don't have access to special fun markers or scented pencils and other items that we'd like to supply. Not being prepared to learn causes students to lag behind their peers.

Keeping up with your peers can be difficult when you start from behind.

Students need to have the basic necessities to be equipped and ready to learn. Our school works on making each child feel special and we'd like to have supplies available for them to borrow or have that will help them feel like we care and that they matter. Taking care of their basic needs helps them know that they're valued. Their emotional health is important to us and their academic growth in all areas will will prosper with the right materials.

These materials will not only continue our efforts to insure that all students are valued and strengthen our PBIS program, but also allow all of them to be successful in math, literature, language arts, science and social studies because they'll be prepared.
