I want to create a safe, engaging and educational environment where the students in my classroom want to come and learn. I teach children with special needs in grades K-5 on a Native American Indian Reservation. 100% of the student population receives free breakfast and lunch. They live in extreme poverty, often coming to school without their basic needs being met, such as wearing warm clothes, being fed, or getting a good night's rest. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
It's already time for a new year of school. I can't believe how time flies.
It would be nice for my students to be able to start the year with the basic school supplies needed to be successful learners.
I do interactive notebooks in my classroom for STEM activities, so each of my students will need two notebooks, pens, colored pencils and glue sticks. My students need binders to keep their assignments organized. I have little white boards that my students are able to use during math and they will need new dry erase markers. Thank you for considering my project, my students appreciate everything they get.
