My Students

My students come to school every day (with 98.4% attendance) in a diverse, low-income, urban community. The demographics of my school includes Asian, African American, Latino and Caucasian students. One goal, as a school community, is to focus on the whole child. My classroom is dedicated to tolerance and humanitarianism. I focus my lessons on the human experience to instill empathy into my students in hopes to create a better world for their generation and generations after. We utilize a vast range of texts, sources, and technology that is available to further understand our world and the responsibilities of a citizen of the United States. I want my students to continue to ask deeper questions about their world, analyze perspectives of others, and be able to support their ideas with evidence.

My Project

My students need some basic supplies to use in the classroom. Right now we are in need of pencil sharpeners. Students sharpen their pencils all the time and our current one has stopped working. We also need clip boards for the students. Every year we have alumni come to share their high school experiences with the 7th and 8th Grade students and they need the clipboards to walk around and gain information. Additionally, we have a projector but the HDMI port is broken and we are unable to properly use the projector in class.

These basic supplies would make a tremendous impact on my students.

The will feel more confident, be better prepared, and will be even more successful than they are now.
