I am a kindergarten teacher at a Title 1 public school in New York City. The majority of my students come from low SES homes, and cannot afford basic school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, or erasers.
Unfortunately with severe budget cuts to New York City public schools, my school can no longer afford to supply us with basic supplies. As a teacher in these economic times, it's getting harder and harder for teachers to buy essential basic supplies needed for our students education.
My school will no longer be able to supply us with paper, pencils, erasers, or a sharpener. As we all know these are the most basic essential supplies needed to run a successful classroom. I am asking for a box of paper which we can use for copies, worksheets, and art. I am also asking for pencils, erasers, and a sharpener. If you know anything about a kindergarten classroom, the pencil monster eats about 20 pencils and erasers a day.
Your help will ensure that my classroom has the bare essential supplies to run a classroom.
