My Students
I teach sixth grade math and health to eager-to-learn eleven and twelve year olds, several of whom are students with disabilities. They each have their own personality, strengths, and areas for growth. My students are sixth graders from a small, rural town in Western New York. This is my first year teaching sixth grade and I am learning right alongside my students. They are excited and ready to learn each day. My students yearn for the skills necessary to excel in our ever-changing world. I am eager to teach them these skills through hard work, and personal responsibility and accountability! My goal for my students is to learn to love who they are!
My Project
My students will be learning the basics of hygiene in my new sixth grade health unit. This is the first year in many years that my students will be receiving health. Our second unit will be focused on hygiene and body development. These resources will be provided for my students whenever they are in need of them. Many of my students come from families that are not able to meet their basic hygienic needs. By donating to this project, you will be helping to provide deodorant, pads, and tampons for kids in need. There will be enough items for all of my students in need of them during health class. We feel that this new unit will be key in helping our students excel as adolescents. Through understanding their bodies and hygiene, my students will learn to love themselves!
