My students need an octagonal mat to help them gain tumbling skills.

My Students

Our cheerleaders started competing 2 years ago. We've gone from 3rd(2009) to 2nd(2010), & want 1st place in 2011! But the problem is that we don't have the tumbling skills we need to beat the competition and get 1st place. This octagonal spot trainer could help us get those skills we need to win!

Our team consist of 25 high school girls.

These girls start in July and work consistently until March. They cheer for all football and basketball games, while working on competition routines. They are excellent cheerleaders, energetic dancers, and hard working stunters! But the one skill that we have yet to conquer in the cheerleading world is tumbling. With the constant change of cheerleading techniques, tumbling is a skill that most first place teams and teams that compete in National competitions have. This is something my team has promised to push themselves with. They realize their skills and know their goals. Every team that has beaten us has mastered tumbling, & this is something we are pushing for! Right now we practice three times a week for three hours a day, but this will become four times a week once school starts. They are hard workers that are determined to learn more tumbling skills & get that 1st place!

My Project

The octagonal spot trainer mat is designed to assist cheerleaders with back-handsprings. The shape allows the cheerleaders to learn the proper form of the movement. They also feel more comfortable using these mats since the shape makes sure that it won't just roll out from the girl. With the use of these mats on a daily basis, we could get the entire team to have a back-handspring, hopefully by the time competition is upon us. A tool like this would be a remarkable way for them to gain their confidence with skills they have been working wards.

This hard working team just needs the tools to help them reach their goals of first place & possibly attending a National competition.

We have the skills in all the other areas of cheerleading but are looking to master the hardest one still...tumbling. With your help, we could reach our goals & have an entire squad tumbling in our competitions. When compared to other teams, it's the only area that we are lacking. We hope that by the end of our season we have basic tumbling all from your help!
