Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning as I walk onto the blacktop to pick up my second graders, I am greeted with hugs and "I missed you,” even if I saw them yesterday. They come to school with smiles on their faces the majority of days, and some days, their home lives show on their faces. I want to ensure that they have the best educational experience I can give them during their time with me.
My students are joyful, curious, and their hardships do not define them.
I work in a Title I school in California where 97% of the students receive free breakfast, lunch, and backpacks full of food to take home over the weekend. My students still come to school ready to learn and take on the world!
My Project
At my school, it is normal for our students to come to school on the first day with no supplies. As teachers, we provide our students with the supplies they need to be successful.
My students deserve to have the school supplies needed to learn and feel comfortable at school.
I provide for my students as if they are my own and if they need pencil boxes or scissors, I will make sure they all have one. The pencil boxes will be used to store my students’ supplies, such as the scissors and dry erase erasers. The folders will be used to hold our daily work. The hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes will help our classroom stay clean and the students stay healthy and get rid of germs. This project for basic supplies will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
