Basic Can Be Better.

My students need paper and pencils. We have an end of course exam, that is 30% of their final grade, and no textbook to follow. I need to print everything for them.

My Students

I want my students to feel safe to explore the community around them, and that starts with me. They need to have, what they need to be competitive. I need to print out the content, because we do not have a textbook to follow. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" Eleanor Roosevelt

My students are diverse in their background.

They are scoring the lowest in the county. They have the biggest hearts. If you reach them, they can be anything. We are a high needs title one school, that needs basic supplies. All of the technology is great, but we do not have reliable Internet. It can take a student 10 minutes to log on. At that point I have lost them.

My Project

We have an end of course exam, worth 30% of their grade for the year. My students can't go home and print what they need. The textbook I have, for them, does not align to the standards. I have to create and printout all of the course content. I want them to be on a level playing field, with the rest of the state. They deserve the same opportunities as everyone else. It is my job to make sure they get them. I need paper and pencils to do this. If you do not know where you are going to sleep or eat that night, printing out a worksheet is not a priority.

If I don't have to spend time, making students copy what they need everyday, I can spend that time creating active informed stake holders.

These students are our future, and we need to equip them with what they need.
