My students are diverse in their backgrounds. Yet you would never know by looking at how well they work together. They voluntarily come to review sessions on weekends. My students competed in our first mock trial competition ever and placed 18th out of 78 teams across the state of Florida. They worked so hard writing the questions and cross examinations. Something none of us had ever done before, but with their enthusiasm we did it. I also have a voluntary student centered student led book club before school. The students select the books they would like to read. If it is approved they will read it and then meet in my room to discuss it. I want them to connect with how they feel about the book not what their teacher wants them to think about it. I want my students to have opportunities to thrive and go beyond what they ever thought was possible. I could not do this without DonorsChoose.
