This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the most optimistic, hard-working, and loving 3rd grade students. They come from a low-income community in South-East San Diego. I say low-income and not impoverished because these children come from families of hope. They may not have the financial benefits of families in other neighborhoods, but the parents make sure their children come to school with a positive attitude and are ready for learning.

My Project

I am teaching a baseball and basketball club this spring to 10 3rd graders. I would like them to not only use baseball gloves during our practices, but I want them to be able to keep the gloves and practice when the club has ended.

I would like to give each of the participants in the club a baseball glove that they can keep.

This ensures that they have the equipment to keep practicing and playing baseball. The tennis balls are to teach them how to catch without getting hurt by a harder baseball. They will learn the basics of baseball and basketball and get to play some games against each other and hopefully the parents.

Through drills and learning the game, they will also learn how to work as a team, how to try new things and practice them, and how to be a teammate with people you might not know.

By giving each participant a baseball glove they will be able to continue to play baseball and practice the skills that I have taught them at home.
