Close to all of my players are poverty stricken. I've spent thousands of my own money the past 5 years trying to help my kids have quality equipment. We use the same bats from 5 years ago and give each player one baseball for the entire year.
My students are predominantly Hispanic and are poverty stricken.
Our school does not consider sports a priority. If not for sports most of my team would be on the streets and in trouble. My players come to school looking for an outlet to help them improve their life.
The requested bats and balls will help my players elevate their game and become better players. Having this equipment will allow them to feel proud rather than embarrassed for the equipment that they use. Other teams we play are well off and tend to give our players a hard time.
It will show them people do care about the fact they are trying to better their skills and that they are trying to improve their situation in life.
By having these items it will improve the overall moral of my kids. It will give them that extra excitement they need to come to practice and improve their games?
