I work at a STEM magnet middle school in Indiana. This means that my students chose to come to our school to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
My 7th and 8th graders come from all around the city to form a community where we focus on our core values of rigor, community, relationships, and drive.
My students come from diverse cultures and experiences, and some overcome significant obstacles to succeed at our school. In their two short years with us, they come in as young pre-teens and develop into teenagers prepared to flourish in high school!
At our 7th/8th grade middle school, we have about 40 boys who come out for the baseball team each fall! We do middle school baseball in the fall because we have to share most of our equipment and all of our facilities with the high school team.
Most of these boys have never played baseball before but are looking for a sport to try and a way to meet new friends -- they don't have equipment of their own so their coach usually restocks their equipment out of his own pocket each year!
This year, you have the opportunity to help our boys by supplying two helmets for the team to share as well as a bunch of balls for their practices and games!
