Help me give my students the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom. These items are to assist in a project called "zipline Barbie" where students use Pythagorean Thereom to create a safe and fun zipline for Barbie.
I am a teacher at a junior high school and I have the best job in the world. Not only is my administration amazing, but I have the best students. I teach approximately 150 students, and they deserve an environment that is safe and encourages learning.
My classroom is a place where students can explore the content provided and then be able to explain why and how it affects other areas of learning.
Students are encouraged to dig deep into their understanding and work collaboratively with their peers to truly gain a mastery level of content understanding.
My Project
I want to reach my students in a different setting to learn math in a fun and creative way. They will have to step out of the book and classroom to use knowledge of the Pythagorean Theorem and slope to create 3 different slopes of ziplines for Barbie. I want to teach my students in different ways so the math skills they learn will last.
The activity will allow students an opportunity for real-world experiences with math, interaction with peers, and a chance to showcase their strengths to others.
I have included Barbies and the items needed for a pulley system to attach to the bleachers in the stadium. Your donation will help make this lesson possible!
