My Project
I absolutely love how unique, resilient, and determined my students are. They may be non-verbal and have multiple disabilities, but they communicate joy, curiosity, and pride in their accomplishments in ways that go far beyond words. Every small success is a big celebration, and their excitement when they learn something new is what inspires me every day.
With the resources I'm requesting, my students will engage in a hands-on, meaningful way to learn about earning, saving, and spending money—important life skills that help build confidence and independence.
After completing classroom jobs and working at work sites, they’ll earn play money and use a real key to unlock their own “safe deposit box” in our classroom bank. This routine will teach them that their hard work has value, and that their money is something they can manage and use.
When it’s time to make a purchase, they’ll check if they have enough saved to buy things like coloring books, electronic toys, playdough, or sand art kits—items they love and choose themselves. This not only reinforces the value of saving and budgeting, but it also gives them a voice in how they’re rewarded. With your help, we can create a classroom economy that empowers every student to learn, grow, and shine in their own way.
