My Students

The students who attend my middle and high school are from various backgrounds and come from all over the county. In particular, I am working mostly with 8th graders who receive extra services, both pushing into their general education classes and giving them support in smaller groups. I run a small reading group and a small math group, as well as help students with organizational strategies, social skills, and behavioral support. We have identified materials that will continue to help our classroom grow with our ever-changing needs in a world of remote learning.

I am looking to diversify classroom materials and procure supplemental materials in order to reach each student's individual needs in the remote learning environment.

Now that we have returned to the classroom in a hybrid setting, we have identified additional materials that would help us both when back in the physical classroom and while learning from home.

In a time when there is so much unknown, we want to make sure to provide our students with materials that will help them blossom into self-confident readers, artists, mathematicians, and scholars.

My Project

As a teacher, not only are we responsible for our students' academic growth, but also their social and emotional well-being. Our goal is to create an environment where students can recognize their strengths, develop their interests, and become self-confident in their own skin.

Giving our scholars band-aids that better match their skin will help to foster the development of self-confidence and sense of belonging here at our school.

It is our goal to make sure all students feel included in their school community, and this is a step in the right direction to embrace the beauty of diverse skins tones.
