This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you first knew what you wanted to be when you were growing up? I do! I always wanted to be a teacher. I teach in a public school prek classroom and a big topic of conversation in is: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Children are eager to share their ideas about their future; A scientist, a doctor, a firefighter, a teacher, a construction worker, anything is possible.

By playing and pretending to take on different roles children begin to learn about themselves and set goals! I want to provide engaging, fun activities and projects that develop and foster a variety of interests.

My Project

These new materials will expand play themes that I currently use by giving children the opportunity to build and take on different roles. I watch them pretend play each day and there are times that materials are missing and they need a prop or block that will increase their level of thinking.

By playing with these new materials, the children in my classroom with explore and gain knowledge about the world around them.

These materials and props can be used to increase communication and language skills with peers, develop math and literacy skills, and may spark a child's interest in a particular area!
